Fuel plant

Our plans for a plant to process local waste into a sustainable fuel for cement making will now go ahead in Rugby rather than at Southam.

We originally submitted planning applications to build the Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plan on alternative sites at the old Southam plant or at Malpass Farm adjoining our Rugby plant. Given permission from Warwickshire County Council for the Rugby option, we have opted to build there and preliminary work is now underway.

Southam would have satisfied the needs of the project but we recognised the concerns raised by villagers in the area about local traffic. The opening of the Rugby Western Relief Road means that traffic is not a major issue for the Malpass Farm site.
