Annual Shutdown

The plant is all set for its annual shutdown. It's a time when the kiln is stationery but the plant is alive with a large team of specialist contractors joining the local workforce to undertake essential maintenance.

All set for shutdown

Rugby cement plant's annual shutdown is scheduled to get underway in January and is expected to last for approaching four weeks. During this time, production ceases and the focus of staff and dozens of contractors is on major maintenance projects.

The annual shutdown is a major event in the plant’s calendar. With the kiln stationary, the team is able to undertake a host of important tasks that are not possible when operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

They will be joined for the intense programme by a total of around 800 contractors handling specialist elements of the work.

Customers’ needs continue to be met from stock built up before the shutdown and through the support of other CEMEX plants.
