Rugby Plant Welcomes New Director

This March saw a new Plant Director join the team at Rugby cement plant.  Phil Baynes-Clarke joins us from CEMEX’s cement plant in South Ferriby.

Phil has been in the cement industry for 13 years and started at Rugby as a graduate process engineer. He moved to Barrington cement plant, Cambridgeshire for 5 years and his last post was Plant Director at South Ferriby, Humberside.

In this role the South Ferriby team achieved 100% alternative fuel substitution for fossil fuels and Phil led the rebuild of the plant following the devastating flood in 2013.

We also welcomed a new Vice President for Cement in the UK, Martin Langvad, who has worked for CEMEX for 19 years and is one of the most experienced cement operators in the industry. He has taken over responsibility for cement production within the UK.

Martin has more than 30 years experience in the cement industry. Previous to 2005, he was responsible for the CEMEX cement operations in Asia, and post 2005, responsible for the operations in various parts of Europe.

These two new appointments reinvigorate the team and bring with them a valuable wealth of knowledge and experience to the Rugby plant.
