Operating hours
South Gloucestershire Council has granted planning permission for an extension to the operating hours for our asphalt plant.
The application was necessary because we need a more flexible
pattern of working in order to respond to customers whose road
surfacing works are increasingly required to take place outside peak
traffic periods. Such customers include the Highways Agency and South
Gloucestershire Council.
Amongst the beneficiaries of surfacing outside peak hours are
the travelling public who do not then have to endure heavy congestion.
The application for extended working hours followed a
substantial programme of noise reduction on our coating plant in order
to minimise any nuisance to our neighbours in the local community. You
can read about the scope of this work here.
The previous permission specified operating hours as being from
3.30am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 3.30am to 12 noon on Saturdays.
Under the new permission, the permitted hours extend until 11pm Mondays
to Fridays and to 6pm on Saturdays.
It should also be stressed that we will operate these extended hours only in response to demand from customers.
Operation of the coating plant outside these amended normal
hours will be limited to 60 occasions, except when the plant needs to be
run in response to emergency situations that necessitate urgent
carriageway repairs. This might, for example, include a serious
motorway accident.
